Blooming 03/23/13 *** a small update***

*** Hey there everyone, we had a HUGE frost last night. I'm curious to see what its done to the garden this afternoon when I get home. I also want to thank all of you for all the nice thoughts and prayers from the previous post. It's been very hard, but I can't help but think Jamey would want me to, in his words, "Put my big girl panties on" and concentrate on healing and moving forward. Hope this all finds you having a wonderful week and thank you again. ***

  3. It cannot be real!!!!

This spring here in Estonia is very-very late. Snow (about 20-40 cm) covers all the ground. Every other spring larks and cranes have been here already but not now. At night temperature is still below -15 degrees and even in the sunshine it doesn`t rise over 0 degrees.

  4. What a nice combination of shots. We seem to be stuck in a cold and wet pattern right now, while not damaging to the plants, it is getting old.

    1. Thanks Les. I'm about to get ready for it to stay warm. I was cold as the dickens last night.

  5. I can't believe you have all those flowers in bloom! Your garden must be heavenly right now. It's been cold here and the plants are delayed. However, given the snow in other parts of the country, I shouldn't complain.

    1. Freda,
It's in need of some TLC. The weather hasn't been very inspiring its either been too cold or on the warm days too wet.

    1. It looks like everything faired pretty well through the hard frost except the knot weed. It'll bounce right back though.

  8. It is my hope all things in life will soon be on the upswing for you, Randy. So sorry for all your sadness and troubles and the surgery. Keep on keeping on is the advice we have to continue to give ourselves, hard as it seems to be.

I know your beautiful garden and all the flowers you have in bloom are a comfort. At least what these late frosts have left untouched. Strange weather, for sure. Just as my Okame cherry trees were in full bloom, as well as the Japanese magnolia and some others were at the peak, Winter freeze comes again.

    All the best to you.

    1. Barbara it is certainly about time. I've been hit pretty hard the past three years. I'm a trooper though, I will bounce back. I always do.

  9. My Goodness Randy---It's been awhile since I visited --and so much has happened in your life... Sorry about your surgery --but hope you are doing MUCH better now... That is NO fun!!!! AND--I'm sorry about the death of your friend.... AND--I'm sorry about your frost.. Your flowers are so gorgeous ---so I pray that nothing happened to damage much of them. As you know, we just haven't had much spring AT ALL up here on the plateau... Hope April is kinder than March was...

    Take care...
    Hugs,
    Betsy

    1. Sweetbay, the only thing that seemed to get burned by the frost was the Knot Weed and it seems to be bouncing right back.

  11. Hello Randy ! how are you healing ? .. I hope the pain is diminishing and you are feeling stronger .. it takes a long time so always be so very careful with movement .. the smallest thing can set a domino affect off .. so be good to yourself !
OMG ... what gorgeous vivid pictures of your plants you have here .. you make me so jealous ;-) I have that "chocolate vine" too and the flowers are so sweet .. of course I won't see any for a long time yet.
We are still very cold here but most of the snow is gone .. the earth is HARD though .. my hellebore bed is a disaster .. I have no idea what will happen with flowers this year .. it went through a bad freeze thaw freeze cycle so foliage and some flower buds were hit badly.
This is going to be a very late Spring so I haven't even gotten any clean up done yet .. just as well, as I am working on my office .. and son's possessions spread through out the house, waiting to pack up and move to South Carolina .. no more Canadian winters for him ? haha
Beautiful pictures of beautiful flowers ! Randy : ) Take care !!
    Joy
